  • Thomas Jefferson negotiating the Louisiana Purchase with Napoleon Banaparte.
  • All 828,000,000 square miles of the Louisiana territory is yours. I only require 0.03 cents per acre of land.
  • I must convince Congress this is a reasonable purchase.
  • Excellent! With this money France will finally be able to actually fund our wars!
  • This is a deal of a lifetime everyone! Imagine all we can accomplish with access to the New Orleans port!
  • And the Land! Our country will be double the size with rich farmland spreading miles and miles long!
  • This is an offer we can't refuse! We're getting New Orleans, the Mississippi river and land west of it, and amazing farmland!
  • By December, France had transferred all authority of the Louisiana territory to the United States. However, things weren't all sunshine and butt whine, as France and Spain made a secret treaty for Spain to return the land back to France.
  • In 1806, President Jefferson had sent out Lewis and Clark with their own crew to explore and document the Louisiana territory. They returned from their expedition two years later with only one casualty.
