Turning Point: George Wilson kills Gatsby
Falling Point: Nobody shows up to Gatsby's funeral
Resolution: Don't live for only one dream
"It was after we started with Gatsby toward the house that the gardener saw Wilson's body a little off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete."(Pg.162) George Wilson commits murder out of rage.
Falling Action: Nick and Jordan break up
"Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead"(Pg.172) Nick, Gatsby's dad, and Owl-Eyes are the only people to attend the funeral.
Falling Action: Nick and Tom recap about events
"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us."(Pg.180) Gatsby lived his life only focusing on one thing and threw away everything just to try to make it work.
Rising Action: Meeting Owl-Eyes
"I saw Jordan Baker and talked over and around what had happened to us together, and what had happened afterward to me, and she lay perfectly still, listening, in a big chair."(Pg.177) Jordan and Nick break up after Gatsby's death
"What's the matter, Nick? Do you object to shake hands with me?" "Yes. You know what I think of you."(Pg.178) Nick asks Tom about what was said to George.
"See!" he cried triumphantly. "It's a bona-fide piece of printed matter. It fooled me. This fella's a regular Belasco. It's a triumph. What thoroughness! What realism! Knew when to stop, too - didn't cut the pages." (Pg. 50) Nick meets Owl-Eyes which foreshadows Gatsby accident
