Six kids were playing outside in a field near a well, when they heard a man inside the well. They all went to the well to investigate.
Ira Sher (the author)
For the next few days, the kids all stood by the well and asked the strange man lots of questions. The man ignored the questions and kept on asking when help was coming instead.
The strange man found out the kids names. That night the kids went home. It started raining. The kids never went back to the well again.
The Man in the Well
Ira is the narrator in the story. He is nine in the book when this event happened. From the book he seemed like a nice kid since he had quite a few friends. There's nothing in the book about what he looks like.
Aaron is one of the kids in the story. He is the oldest out of all six kids. He seemed smart from the book since he came up with the lies and to bring food. There's nothing in the book about what he looks like.
From the book he seemed like an older man. He also seemed scetchy since he never told the kids his name even after they asked what his name is. He also seemed mysterious since in the story the kids have no idea how he got down there or if he even got out.
