Around 250 million sperm enter the vagina, 99% of them however die by deadly acids that protects the vgina.
Fallopian Tubes: fertilization
only one sperm will make the egg fertile.
The cervix is located at the far end of the vagina. During ovulation, estrogen flows from the ovary to the uterus,, which softens the mucus to make it watery so sperm can navigate their way up to the uterus.
Then the egg floats back down to the uterus and attaches its shelf to the uterine wall
this is the right way
Around 3000 sperm are left and must make their way to the fallopian tubes to find the egg, some may go to the wrong ovary where there is no egg and just die there. During this white blood cells come to fight the sperm and kill them.
Finally at this pint there is most likely 10-30 remaining and it is all man for themselves. The remaining sperm must attempt to find the egg at the upper end of the fallopian tube. The sperm then shed layers of protein to be able t propel faster in order to fertilize the egg.
The egg then travels through the fallopian tubes and down to the uterus, cells begin dividing. On day 4 the tiny bundle of cells is named the blastocyst. 5 days later , the embryo breaks out of their protective shell and implants in the wall of the uterus.
