  • there are some things that a dog does not need to learn as the reflex is hard wired into the dog
  • i was right
  • mmmm food
  • that must have been learnt
  • that bell means food mmmm
  • *bell ringing*
  • unconditioned stimulus (food) > unconditioned response (salivate)
  • Pavlov showed the existence of the unconditioned response by presenting a dog with a bowl of food and then measuring how much it salivates.
  • Pavlov discovered that any object or event which the dogs learnt to associate with food would trigger the same response. Pavlov used a bell as his neutral stimulus by ringing a bell when he gave the dog food. the bell on its own now caused an increase in salivation. this is called a conditioned response because it has been learnt
