Storyboard Text

  • Trouble for the church
  • Martin Luther
  • Indulgences are not right! People can't just pay their way out of their sin!
  • It is totally OK to sell indulgences!
  • 95 theses
  • My 95 theses will show them that what they are doing is wrong!
  • The five solas include by faith alone, by scripture alone, through Christ alone, by grace alone, and glory to god alone
  • The church had a schism because the pope was selling simony and indulgences which is church jobs and forgiveness for their sin.
  • Five Solas
  • Martin Luther was a man who thought that the indulgences were wrong and he went to the scala Sancta and when you would step, each stair was worth 1 indulgence. When he stepped on the stair an angel spoke to him.
  • Diet of worms
  • I'm on my way to Worms!
  • The 95 these were made up of two beliefs- that the Bible is the central religious authority and that humans may reach salvation only by their faith and not by their deeds.
  • German Bible
  • My name is Junker Jorg. I am her to hid out
  • By faith alone has to do with Christ alone and Christ's righteousness. By scripture alone means that you follow the bible and the holy texts. Through Christ alone means Our salvation is accomplished by the mediatorial work of the historical Christ alone. By grace alone means that you respect that God put you on the earth. Last, glory to God only means It is affirmed that because salvation is of God and has been accomplished by God, it is for God's glory and that we must glorify him always.
  • Luther began his trip to Worms on April 2, 1521. The journey to the Imperial Diet did not embody the repentance the church had hoped for. The journey to Worms was more like a victory march; Luther was welcomed enthusiastically in all of the towns he went through. The infamous saying "Here I stand. I cannot do otherwise." does not come from Luther.
  • Luther lived secretly at the Wartburg; he called himself Junker Jörg (Knight George) and "grew his hair and a beard." He had to live secretly because the powerful Elector hoped that taking Luther out of the limelight would weaken the constant attacks against the Reformation.
