Emma meets Mr. Knightley. She decides she like match making after successfully setting up two people. She then tries, and fails, to set up her new friend Harriet with Robert Martin.
Frank Churchill comes to visit. Jane Fairfax also comes to see her aunt. Emma soon becomes jealous of all the attention Jane was getting, but still tries to get her with Mr. Dixon.
For the first time, Mr. Knightley dances at a ball. He decided to dance with Harriet because she was all alone. Emma tries to make Harriet believe she is in love with him, but she doesn't seem to really listen. A few days later, Mrs. Weston asks Emma is anything is going on between her and Knightley, and Emma denies it.
Turns out that Jane and Frank have been secretly engaged! Jane did end up calling it off because of how stressful it was to keep secret, but then gets back together with him after Frank's uncle gave his blessing. Emma was upset she didn't properly match them.
Emma thinks Harriet is going to be upset that her 'match' was actually already engaged. Emma is wrong again! Harriet says that she belives she is in love with Mr. Knightley. Emma isn't really sure how to feel about that.
Mr. Knightley comes to visit Emma thinking that she is heartbroken with Frank already being engaged. She admits that she has feelings for him, not Frank and Mr. Knightley proposes and she accepts. In the end, Harriet accepts Robert Martin's second propsal and they get married. That November, Emma and Knightley get married.
