The Israelites asked their prophet, Samuel for a king to lead to lead them . He told them that they already had a king: God . But they wanted a human king to lead them. Samuel relented and talked to God for advice.

Saul was then found and then he was anointed by Samuel.

Saul was a good king, until his fatal mistake which was refusing to kill an Amalekite.
This started Saul's downfall. He got David to help him by soothing him with his music.
Samuel revealed to Saul that David was going to take over as king after Saul dies. After this Saul tried to kill David but David ran away. A while after that, Saul went into a battle where he fell on his sword and died.
