Sir Gawain & The Green KnightTranslated by: Marie BorroffCreated by: Aaron Soltmann
A mysterious glowing green knight who's name is unknown rides into the hall of King Arthur and challenges one of his men to play a game on new years.
I come in peace, but I wish to play a game against the best of the best.
Did I drink to much.
King Arthur's nephew Sir Gawain, although not the biggest, strongest or brightest, accepts the invitation to play the green knight's game.
I will play your game!
The game is simple after Gawain gets a chance to cut off the knight's head, he must seek out the knight and take a blow from him. Gawain agrees and proceeds to cut the knights head off. The Knight picks up his head then leaves expecting to see Gawain in a year.
See you in a Year Sir Gawain.
Yes, you will!
Seasons pass and it is now time for Gawain to journey to the home of the green knight. Gawain is sent off nervous but he is prepared for what he might face in the wilderness.
What should I expect?
On Christmas eve Gawain comes across a grand cattle and the king invites him to stay but as time grows closer Gawain tries to leave. The king tells him the green knight's chapel is not far from here and wants Gawain to stay for another three days during which the king will give him whatever he kills while hunting and Gawain must give him whatever he gets.
