Storyboard Text

  • Did you know that there are things called Lunar and Solar eclipses???
  • Really? I didn't know that!
  • Well you see, Solar eclipses happen when the moon gets in between the Earth and the Sun. This makes it so that Earth will not see light for a few minutes.
  • You have to understand that there is only that one part of Earth that will not see light. The rest of Earth will see some of the moon and some of the Sun
  • During a solar eclipse and a Lunar eclipse there is a place called the Umbra and the Penumbra.
  • The Umbra is when you are right at the place where the Moon's shadow is upon the Earth. You could also say that it is right where the Moon is on a straight line with the Earth and the Moon.
  • The Penumbra is the part surrounding the Umbra. During a solar eclipse, the Penumbra usually sees a Moon covering some of the sun.
