Well.. okay, but we can't let John find out!
Alisoun, I'm in love with you!
How can he actually believe this?
Exposition - John the carpenter lets Nicholas rent a room with him and his wife while Nicholas is attending college.
Conflict - When John is away Nicholas confesses his love for Alisoun and they both begin to have an affair. This upsets Absolon who also loves her but she is uninterested.
You are going to regret doing that!
Rising Action - Nicholas comes up with a plan to fool John so that he and Alisoun can spend a whole night together. He pretends to be sick and convinces John that a great flood is coming, which John believes.
Crazy old man
Climax - Nicholas convinces John that they all need to build boats and tie themselves to the roof of the barn to prepare for the flood. He also says they need to not make any noise and this is how Nicholas and Alisoun are able to sneak out
Falling Action - The two of them are successful in spending the night together but in the morning are interrupted by Absolon. He refuses to go away and so they both end up farting in his face which makes him so mad he comes back and brands Nicholas' buttcheeks.
Resolution - Nicholas' screams of pain wake up John and he crashes to the ground. The commotion attracts attention and he tells them about the flood story while Nick and Alisoun feign ignorance. Everyone laughs and things go back to normal.
