Summer's Choice Storyboard
The message is that trauma at a young age can seriously limit a child's potential and prevent them from achieving their dreams/goals.
Now age 19, Summer is helping her family at home. She declined a scholarship to attend art school, but still hopes to go.
If you had the choice of going to the art institute or looking after the grandmother who rescued you, what would you chose?
Students drop out for many reasons... but most cite the number one reason is not having a personal relationship with a caring adult.
So many of our students play significant caregiver roles in their families... I worry she's (Summer) is not going to graduate this year.
Summer Jordan missed her sophomore year of high school to care for her grandparents.
I would say that this shows how the tramas in Summer's life have caused her to put other things (even if they are very important) in front of her dream.
This shows ethos in that the principal is the one saying it also in the documentary she seems to know Summer well this gives the message of the film more believability.
The gun is meant to inspire emotions of fear and is meant to act as a metaphor for the destruction Summer's parents caused by leaving her.
