Storyboard Text

  • "This is highly irregular, Brock 095670038, What is your reason for external travel?”
  • Exposition
  • “Scientific research”
  • Rising Action
  • "There were actual trees growing on the first hill. Not the great giants of virtual history lessons, more scrubby and bent. But they were trees, he was sure of it. The podmaster had said that trees had been extinct for hundreds of years."
  • "It was, he pulled the scanner from his outside pouch and checked it, “hot.” Oh, that was what he was feeling. Hot. He remembered “hot” from a virtual lesson he’d had once on deserts."
  • Conflict
  • "all he could think of was the puppy, a small creature who had lost its mother."
  • "He was sure it was a puppy, nosing the stiff body of what must once have been its mother, making the little crying sounds that he’d heard from the brook."
  • Brock has wanted to explore outside the dome, he is finally going to. The dome has taught him that earth is not suitable for life so there will be nothing out there.
  • Climax
  • When Brock is finally outside of the dome he sees something far off in the distance and he goes off to explore.
  • Falling Action
  •  It wasn’t hard to figure out what the scientists meant by “actual experiments.” Cloning would be bad enough.
  • “And how are we going to raise a pack of dogs in a dome? One is nearly eating and drinking us out of test tube and petri dish.
  • Brock comes across a puppy he was taught there was no life, so he is very suprised. He takes the dog back to the dome.
  • Resouloution
  • The scientist do many test on the dog, they still havent come to a conclusion as to whether or not they are going to let Brog (the dog) stay in the dome.
  • The officials in quarantine inspection, who rarely had anything to inspect, were at first nervous and then, as they watched the puppy happily licking Brock’s face, interested despite themselves.
  • The scientist and the dome officials have decided that they cannot support Brog and his needs. They tell Brock that Brog is going to be thrown out of the dome.
  • Brock decides he is going to leave with Brog. They both leave and Brog discovered that the outside world is safe.
  • “Who knows, maybe out here you aren’t the last dog. Your mother had to come from somewhere.”
