Storyboard Text

  • Beginning: Childlike
  • You scared?
  • Let me show you how it's done.
  • You better git!
  • Middle: Transitioning
  • Lizabeth, look.
  •  M-miss Lottie.
  • End: Adultlike
  • Aubrey Zubick p.1 4/26/18
  • Lizabeth was being childish because she joined in with everyone when they started to throw rocks at Miss Lottie's flowers. Lizabeth also ran up and was singing a song about Miss Lottie,"...'Old witch, feel in a ditch, picked up a penny and thought she was rich!' " (line 228-230)
  • After hearing her dad cry Lizabeth was filled with fear and decided to do something irrational. She decided to run over to Miss Lottie's that's when she got there she went into her yard and decided she was going to rip out her marigolds."I leaped furiously into the mounds of marigolds and pulled madly, tramping and pulling and destroying the perfect yellow blooms."(line 333-335)
  • Lizabeth realizes that what she had done was a huge mistake and she didn't realize who she was hurting until she saw the look on Miss Lottie's face after seeing that her marigolds had ripped out of her yard. Lizabeth says,"For one does not have to be  ignorant and poor to find that one's life is barren as the dusty yards of one's town. And too have planted marigolds." (line 383-386)
