  • 1824- John Quincy Adams and the corrupt bargain
  • 1828- Tariff of Abomination
  • 1828- Jackson 1st election
  • It was said that John Quincy Adams was getting votes from people he knew. He was also accused of using his friend Henry clay to get people to vote for him.
  • 1828- South Carolina Nullification
  • Congress passed this to help protect northern industry, however this hurt all the farmers in the south.
  • 1832- Worcester vs. Georgia
  • In the election of 1828, Jackson won the popular vote but John Quincy Adams won the vote of the Electoral College.
  • 1836- Trail of tears
  • South Carolina ignore the new tariffs because it only benefitted the north. They believed they had the right to nullify any federal law.
  • Worcester was living with the indians trying to bring them to faith when he was kicked out for "trying to convince indians to stay and not move west."
  • Jackson forced the Native Americans to move west of the mississippi river so he could have their land.
