How Geographic Isolation occurs

Storyboard Text

  • Geographic Isolation is the physical separation of a species by accident due to natural occurrences to create a barrier.
  • One day there is an earthquake that breaks off a huge chunk of ice.  There was a group of Polar Bears that was split into two groups.
  • Now that they are separated, and they have no choice but to repopulate with each other.
  • There aren't really any more options with breeding so they lose genetic variation.
  • Since they had to mate with their own kind their species starts to change.
  • Over time the Population of the species grows and changes.
