Elie was living in the Ghettos until he was taken into the cattle cars along with 79 other people. If someone were to make an attempt in escaping ¨that person would be shot¨ by an officer managing that car. (Wiesel 22)
The prisoners were on their way to camp without them actually knowing where they were going. This woman named Mrs. Schachter was separated from her family. Her family was deported on the first transit ¨The separation totally shattered her¨ and she started yelling fire. (Wiesel 24)

Everyone is brought to Auschwitz via the cattle cars. Everyone was told ¨Men to the left, women to the right¨ meaning that Elieś family was split up. (Wiesel 29)
If you stop running we will shoot!!
Elie and his father was brought to another concentration camp called Buna where ¨it looked as though it had been through an epidemic¨ it was empty and dead and only a few people were ¨Well-Dressed.¨ (Wiesel 47)
The people in Buna were celebrating Rosh Hashanah. Every one prayed to God but Elie didn't want to because "he caused thousands of children to burn in his mass graves" every piece of him wanted to rebel against him. (Wiesel 67)
The prisoners are marching in the snow while the S.S. officers are yelling at the prisoners to keep running. If you were to slow down the prisoners "had orders to shoot anyone who could not sustain the pace" which motivated the prisoners to keep running. (Wiesel 85)
