  • Our first topic is protest during 1960. 
  • Our first movement was the Civil Rights Movement. 
  • The civil rights movement is a long debate about how African Americans should be treated and have the same rights. There were several protest during the civil rights movement throughout 1960’s.
  • The biggest ones were the March on washington where martin luther king jr gave his famous speech “ I have a Dream”, sit-ins (When it would only be whites only and African americans would come in and sit), and Kings famous “Letter from Birmingham Jail.
  • Another big movement that had protest throughout the movement was The Gays Right Movement. 
  • Reformist goals: decriminalization of homosexual acts, equal treatment and equal rights under the law, dissemination of accurate, “unbiased” information about homosexuality. Achievements: right to publish gay and lesbian magazines, first employment discrimination cases won, constraints on police harassment,
