  • dialogue opened in the scientific and religious communities, media visibility, organizational impulse, denunciation of how gays and lesbians are a mistreated, persecuted minority. Problems: Society’s hostility against homosexuals and the penalties attached to exposure.June 1969. Stonewall Riot. Result: a radical mass movement.
  • The next movement was the women's. The Women's Movement had many protest throughout the movement.
  • Feminists would protest in the streets and at rallies, hearings, marches, sit-ins, legislative sessions, or even the Miss America Pageant… the opportunities were practically endless.
  • Another big movement that had many protest throughout the movement is The Student Movement
  • Another large aspect of the student movement was the lengthy battle against the old and curbed students' free speech. The tipping point came during the fall semester in 1964 at the University of California, Berkeley. Students were recruiting for the civil rights movement even though the administrators decided to terminate the students and later started to arrest the students.
  •  When that happened there was a sizable revolt formed. The student revolt against the intransigence of the Berkeley administration became known as the Free Speech Movement (FSM). The FSM  organized dozens of sit-ins, public protests and issued the infamous\'Bodies Upon the Gears' speech in order to protect the student's right to free speech and the ability to recruit for the civil rights movement.
