Storyboard Text

  • Sarah walks into the classroom to see a very confusing question on the bored and begins to daydream what life would be like if the really happened. 
  •  What would happen to life on Earth if a volcanic eruption in Iceland occurred and the ash cloud moved and settled over the Midwestern part of the United States for six months blocking sunlight and plunging us into a volcanic winter?
  •  Ya I heard!! I wish that  Iceland was located somewhere else! My mom said we might have to move from South Dakota to Colorado if it stays like this!
  • Sarah's daydream appears and two girls begin to talk about how safety precautions and what life would become is becoming more clear to Sarah 
  • Did you hear that their will be an assembly on all the new safety precautions I hear it's going to be so boring!
  • Sarah sees that the two girls have received masks and she can't believe that they must wear masks in order to prevent smog. She also finds it crazy how it might be harder to breath as the energy cycle is having a harder time to countinue it's process.
  • What do you mean by energy cycle collapse?
  • The safety masks everyone will be receiving will just protect you from any potent gases do not enter your lungs. As the time increases you might find i harder and harder to breathe as the energy cycle is not able to perform it's usual duties.
  • The two girls decided to go home and learn about cellular respiration and photosynthesis and how they connected. Sarah saw how cool this system was but began to wonder how this would effect the ecosystem.
  • Cellular respiration: The process animals go through day and night for energy and the process plants go through at night for energy. Photosynthesis: The process that uses light energy from the sun to make food for plants.
  • So the animals rely on the plant's for oxygen and glucose and plants rely on animals for CO2 so the process goes in a repeated cycle.
  • The two girls were devastated and couldn't believe all the plants were dead and many animals were dead. 
  • I can't believe because the animals couldn't get the reactants of glucose and oxygen and the plants couldn't get the light energy, carbon dioxide and water the energy cycle collapsed killing both the animals and plants!
  • Sarah woke up from her day dream and explained to her teacher what would happen.
  • Ms. Ten I think that if this awful disaster happen the energy cycle would collapse resulting in animals and plants dying.
