Storyboard Text

  • *No New Friends plays in the background*
  • He was so smart and dedicated and had such a precious mind.
  • I think he was a bootlegger, but that's none of my business.
  • Following Gatsby's death, lots of police officers and photographers flooded the area. The media was reporting false and overly dramatic information. Nick realizes that no one has stuck around to help with the things that come following a death, so he takes matters into his own hands.
  • You broke up with me over the phone!
  • Nick first tries to contact Daisy, but learns she has moved away abruptly with Tom. He then tries to plan the funeral and contacts many of Gatsby's friends to invite them. None of them, including Meyer Wolfsheim, whom Nick visited in person, were willing to attend the funeral. Nick was furious and confused with the actions of the people who claimed to be Gatsby's friends.
  • Do you object to shaking hands with me?
  • Yes. You know what I think of you.
  • Nick meets Gatsby's father, who shares more information about Gatsby's past. When the funeral occurs, Nick and Gatsby's father are the only one's to attend, aside from some of Gatsby's servants. When they arrive at the cemetery, they meet Owl Eyes, the man Nick met at the first Gatsby party he attended.
  • Nick decides to move back to the Midwest. He meets with Jordan to officially end things. She tells him that she is engaged to another man but not before she gives him a piece of her mind. They argued briefly, and Nick left, angry but also still in love.
  • Before he leaves, Nick runs into Tom in town. Nick tells Tom that he doesn't like him, but Tom does not take him seriously. After some questioning from Nick, Tom reveals that he told Wilson that the car was Gatsby's after Wilson went to the Buchanan's house and threatened them.
  • Nick spends his last night in East Egg at the beach, pondering the man he knew as Gatsby, and the life Gatsby chose for himself that ended too soon.
