I woke up today in the morning at around eight-twenty. The fan was hitting my face and my body was warm wrapped in my animal printed blanket. It’s the middle of summer so every morning I wake up with a cold breeze on my feet if they’re uncovered, because my mom cranks up the thermostat to sixty degrees. I check my phone on the side of me, get up and take a shower. Today I have planned to learn how to drive my dads truck. It’s not that exciting but i’ve been wanting to learn how to drive for months now. When i finally learn how to drive, I can take my friends and go shopping and go to parks and chill.
My summer consists of going to the movies, sleeping over my friends house, and me in my room watching videos on my tv while I tidy it up. The most exciting thing about summer is not going to school and playing my guitar all day. I’m in love with that thing. It made my summer one-hundred times better. I just learned how to play it and I can’t stop. Next i’ll ask my parents if they can buy me an electric guitar, but I doubt they will, because i’ve asked before and they said i’ll shake the house with how loud i’ll play it. They’re not wrong.
I woke up today at dawn to the heat of the dog days. Sweaty and sticky, I get up and bathe myself with the dirty bath water from the day before. Now that school isn’t here for the next two months, I will have more time to groom all the animals in the barn and cook big delicious meals for my family and I. My father promised me that he would teach me how to call the cattle. I’m excited because I love the way the cows moo every morning and their amazing patterns on their fur. At the end of the day, when all the chores are finished I play with my little brother and help my older brother stack wood for the fireplace. It’s summer but in the night it still gets cold sometimes.
My friends come by but not all the time because they live about four blocks away from me. So all summer I will be at the house grooming animals, stacking wood, making dinner and sewing with my mother. Knitting is a hobby my mother and I do and now i’ll have time to make dresses for the next school year. I love knitting, it makes me calm and my mom and I always talk till our hands hurt. I love my quiet life but I wish it were easier sometimes, like something that can help clean dishes or wash our clothes so we have more time for family.
