The Proclamation Act was used to forbid settlers to advance beyond the Appalachian Mts. which allowed England (rather than the colonial gov'ts) to control westward expansion. Most of the Indian tribes liked the line. But this didn't worked as expected this actually failed because it wasn't policed by British troops so settlers continued to cross the boundary and to claim lands farther into the Ohio River Valley.
The Townshend Acts
Merchants and lawyers were asked to buy stamps for ship's paper and legal documents. The stamp tax wasn't very expensive but this made the colonists mad. Partrick Henry (House of Burgesses) wanted the stamp act or or them to pay taxes for a stamp to be remove in other words repeal the tax or the king would had to face a mutiny. In 1776 the stamp act stopped because when the colonists were mad they did a boycott and they end up making " The Stamp Act of Congress." so what it said that the British should not have power over the colonies.
The Boston Massacre
After what happened on the Boston Tea Party there was consequences for the acts of the colonists. What they did first was close the port of Boston after that they reduced their self-government autonomy. After that, those who were accused for crime now had to be tried in England. These acts made the inhabitants of Massachusetts martyr to other colonies this sparked new resistance throughout the colonies.
Charles Townshend was the new exchequer (British treasury secretary ). In 1765 it was when the Quartering (Mutiny) Act started and what it did was that it required colonists to provide quarters and supplies for British troops in America which made the colonists angry but they didn't mind the quartering but they did mind giving supplies. The duties that the Townshend had were to tax on imports from GBR for example the lead, paint, paper, and tea the Townshend would call it the "external taxes" this was like the same as a direct tax would do.
So the colonists got into a big argument with a Private Hugh White outside the Custom House. This argument just started to get worst when more people showed up and started to throw things. When there was more than 50 colonists the British Troops showed up to supposedly to "maintain order". Someone in the crowd throw something to Private Montgomery which knocked him down after that Private Montgomery shot or fired into the crowed and well other British soldiers did the same. So, 5 colonists died including a free Black named Crispus Attacks.
