The Whiskey Rebellion started in 1791. The whiskey rebellion was about the government taxing farmers whiskey. Many farmers didn't want to pay taxes on the whiskey because it was made from corn. Which showed us that the government was ready to put down a rebellion when necessary and that our nation was strong.
In the early republic the constitution didn't explain what the court system would be like so they passed the Federal Judiciary which established 13 district courts(federal), 3 circuit courts of appeal, states had own courts but federal court could overturn the decision, and Supreme court had 6 justices.
This was a case that was took to the Supreme-court which meant it was pretty serious. The people who were on the case was William Marbury versus James Madison and the case was led by John Marshall. What this case established was the judicial review, what the judicial review did was the Supreme-court can limited the congressional power.
We have a deal.
I'll give $15million for Louisiana.
Alien act started on 1798 . Which the Alien Act was passed by John Adams/President of the U.S. The Alien Act established that the President was allowed to deport or imprision immigrants.
The Sedition Act started on 1798 at the same time when the Alien act started or was passed. President John Adams agreed to passed the Sedition Act which meant that if you said something bad about the government you would be arrested. It was illegal to talk bad about the government that's what the Sedition act mostly did.
What a bad gov...
Don't say it!!!
Thomas Jefferson was the president during the time of the Louisiana purchase. During that time the president had France as a "neighbor" which was a disaster but anyways. Before France took over Louisiana, Spain closed the New Orleans port to the Americans. Which the U.S bought Louisiana for $15 million and deal was done. It showed us that the president can make treaties with foreign countries.
