  • Goodbye my love! Come back to me!
  • 1. Odysseus leaves for the Trojan war 
  • Goodbye my sweet Penelope! I am off to the Trojan war. 
  • 4. The Present: Telemachus' house is filled with suitors for his mom. He tells them to leave his home for they have been shown a generous amount of hospitality.
  • I am Telemachus, son of Odysseus! You must leave my house now!
  • I am Antinous and we, the suitors, will not leave until your mother chooses one of us
  • Menalaus I need your help in finding my father. Have you news of him? For suitors are taking over my home.
  • 5. Telemachus goes to Menalaus to find news of his father.
  • My dear Telemachus I will help you! Your father is being held captive by the nymph Calypso
  • 7. Zeus sends Hermes to Calypso's island to tell her to let Odysseus go. She is reluctant to let him leave after the hospitality she showed him.
  • I will allow him to leave but I am saddened he is leaving me after the hospitality I showed him.
  • Zeus sent me, Hermes, to tell you let Odysseus return home to Ithaca
  • 8.Calypso tells Odysseus he can return home and we see Odysseus crying for his family. 
  • Odysseus I have kept you hear to long, you must return home to your wife and son. I will help prepare you for your journey.
  • I, Odysseus, miss my wife and son, and my dear Ithaca so much I must weap.
  • Help me! Poseidon wrecked my ship!
  • 9.Odysseus washes ashore the Phaecian's island and they welcome him into their home and aid him.
  • This man looks as if he has been washed ashore. We must show him hospitality and give him help
