The people of China were tired of the socioeconomic climate in China and desired a change. Communism would provide them with freedom from the current "Republic" and promised them equality. The only thing that was standing in their way was the PRC (People's Republic of China) who didn't agree with communism. This predicament led to a revolution but there were several factors that preceded it.
One factor that preceded the Communist revolution of 1949 was the semi-colonial status of China. Over the years many countries decided to set up shop in China, for example, the Japanese and the British in Shanghai. These different powers in control led to much political instability.
We, the people of Great Britain, now take hold of Shanghai.
The Chinese were very inspired by the success of the Russian revolution and Marxism. This inspiration led them to believe that a Communist REvolution could be possible in China as well.
Do you think we can be as successful as Russia?
The constant struggle to keep power and unite China was obvious. Sun Yat Sen and The baby emperor's stand-in General Yuan Shikai were opposed to each other despite their alliance. So the people seeing this error sought change from one man.
After both a civil war and a revolution the people finally got what they wanted which was Communism but at the hands of Mao Zedong
OMG! Mao Zedong is so awesome. YAAAAASSSS! Communism.
