Nooo don't eat us!!!
WHO ARE YOU?!?!
My name is Noman.
Odysseus and his men become trapped in a cave with the Cyclops Polyphemus. They can't get out because a boulder only a cyclops can move is blocking the exit.
"His hands / Reached out, seized two of them, and smashed them / To the ground like puppies. Their brains spattered out / And oozed into the dirt..." (9, lines 281-283).
"'Noman is my name They call Noman – / My mother, my father and all my friends, too'"(9, lines 364-365).
I am Odysseus!
Odysseus and his men get the Cyclops drunk enough that he falls asleep. They then sharpen an olive branch and use it to stab him in the eye while he is unconscience.
Polyphemus then moves the rock because he can't see. Odysseus and his men hide under sheep and escape from the cave.
"'Cyclops, if anyone, any mortal man, / Asks you how you got your eye put out, / Tell him that Odysseus the marauder did it, / Son of Laertes, whose home is on Ithaca'"(9, lines 500-503).
