A Solar Eclipse is happening, that's why. Let's go to the park.
Why is it dark outside? It's daytime!
A Solar Eclipse is when the moon blocks off the light from the Earth, causing it to appear dark.
An eclipse is when the light from one object is blocked from hitting another.
Can anyone see an eclipse?
If you are standing in the moon's umbra, or darker shadow, you can see a Total Solar Eclipse. If you are standing in the moon's penumbra, you can see a Partial Solar Eclipse. Also, you need special viewing devices to be safe.
What's the difference?
A Total Solar Eclipse is when you see the moon block off all of the sun's light. A Partial Solar Eclipse is when you see only some of the sun's light blocked off.
I understand now. So this is a Total Solar Eclipse?
