Storyboard Text

  • MEOW!!
  • A Solar Eclipse is happening, that's why. Let's go to the park.
  • Why is it dark outside? It's daytime!
  • A Solar Eclipse is when the moon blocks off the light from the Earth, causing it to appear dark.
  • An eclipse is when the light from one object is blocked from hitting another.
  • Can anyone see an eclipse?
  • If you are standing in the moon's umbra, or darker shadow, you can see a Total Solar Eclipse. If you are standing in the moon's penumbra, you can see a Partial Solar Eclipse. Also, you need special viewing devices to be safe.
  • What's the difference?
  • A Total Solar Eclipse is when you see the moon block off all of the sun's light. A Partial Solar Eclipse is when you see only some of the sun's light blocked off.
  • I understand now. So this is a Total Solar Eclipse?
  • I hope they're wearing their Eclipse Glasses!
  • What's a Lunar Eclipse?
