- the settings starts in the 4th chapter in front of nicks house where Gatsby tells him they're going to lunch together. it then changes and they ride Gatsby's car. then in chapter 5 they were in nick's house then they moved to Gatsby's house. the sixth chapter's main events happen in Gatsby's house.
- throughout the book, Gatsby’s power to make his dreams real is what makes him “great.” In chapter 6, it becomes clear that his most powerfully realized dream is his own identity, his sense of self and his determination. It is important to realize, in addition, that Gatsby’s conception of Daisy is itself a dream.
- we readers were surprised that Gatsby didn’t come from a rich family and he reached wealth on his own, and that he changed his name, and thought his way through life. We were puzzled when daisy started crying after seeing Gatsby's clothes.
