Storyboard Text

  • Winn-Dixie couldn't stand being left alone. We started tying him up outside when we left, but he would howl so much that we took him everywhere we wet, even to church.
  • He doesn't like to be left alone. Let's take him with us. Pleeeeeasse?
  • Ok. But he has to stay outside. Dogs do not belong in church, Opal.
  • AT THE CHURCH...
  • Arrrowww www!!! Arrruiip ppp!!
  • The preacher wasn't but two or three words into his sermon when there was a terrible howl coming from outside...
  • Opal..GO GET THAT DOG!
  • Yes, sir.
  • I brought Winn-Dixie inside, and he sat down beside me and smiled up at the preacher. The Preacher couldn't help but smile back.
  •
  • And so the Preacher started preaching again, and everything would have been all right, except that a mouse ran across the floor...
  • AARF!!
  •
  • He's a special dog.
  • Winn-Dixie looked like a furry bullet chasing that mouse! He was barking and his feet were skidding on the slippery Pick-It-Quick tile, and people were laughing and hollering!
  • Look at him go!
  • I have never in my life seen a dog catch a mouse!
  • That's a hunting dog!
  • Winn-Dixie took the mouse over to the preacher and dropped it at his feet. The preacher picked up the mouse by the tail and threw it out the front door of the Pick-It-Quick, and everybody applauded.
  • Let us pray for this mouse.
