  • As the heat flows onto your finger from the metal, the particles in your finger start to vibrate and collide with nearby particles until all the particles are vibrating.
  • Wood is a rather good insulator, so the heat is not transferred to your finger but it gets trapped inside the wood. However metals do the opposite.
