  • BOOK 22
  • Odysseus reveals himself
  • Odysseus: "Now I shall shoot at another mark, one that no man yet has struck, if I can hit it and Apollo grants me the glory" (6, p.321)
  • Eurymachos: "No! Don't kill Antinoos! If it really is you, Odysseus, we will do anything."
  • Odysseus: "I would not stay my hands from the slaughter, until I had taken revenge for all the suitors' transgression." (63, p.322)
  • The battle begins
  • Suitors: "Kill Odysseus!"
  • Telemachos: "I'll help you, father!"
  •  Athena assists Odysseus
  • Athena: Athene made vain all their casts, so that one man threw his spear against the pillar.. (256, p.327) 
  • Odysseus reveals himself to the suitors and shoots Antinoos to prove that it is him. Shows that he is still worthy. 
  • The singer and herald spared
  • Telemachos: "No! Don't kill him!"
  • Pages 323-6
  • Punishment of the faithless maids
  • Odysseus: "Now assemble here the women who are in the palace..." (417, p.332)
  • Athena protects Odysseus from the suitors' weapons and aids him in his fight. He finally gets his revenge, feels accomplished.
  • Odysseus claims the palace
  • Odysseus: "...tell Penelope to come here now." (481, p.333)
  • Odysseus then slays the suitors.
