Storyboard Text

  • Aidan, are you for or against pacifism?
  • I support pacifism, war is destructive., Christian teachings, teach against non-violence, Jesus teaches that you must not kill, besides, He maintained that any person who is angry his brother he will answer for it.
  • But God Himself took part in the war? God used conflict as a means of facilitating the Israelites to occupy Canaan, the promised land.
  • There are varying views of war. The church teaches us to bepeaceful and love our neighbors. Besides, apostle Paul says that vengeance isfor the Lord.
  •  The Catechism of the Catholic Church, firmly shows what establishes the just defense of a country against an invader, known as the Just War Principle.
  • But the same Catechism teaches us to respect life and reject violence.
  • St.Thomas Aquinas records that, vice may be defect as well as excess.
  • The conversation takes place between Jaime Isom, a supporter of War, and Aidan Delgado, a conscientious objector. Both individuals have served in the military, in particular, participated in the  Iraq war.
  • What do you mean?
  •
  • He suggests that the manifestation of evil ought to incite a righteous anger, which if absent establishes a wicked insensibility.
  • But the Just War doctrine lays down specific situations for the reasonable use of force.
  •
  • Well, whatever, it states, I believe that pacifism is not a tenable position.
  • You should reconsider your views Jaime, war is destructive, it leads to loss of property and life.
