Storyboard Text

  • The man looked at him thoughtfully, silently. It was a look that combined interest, curiosity, concern, and perhaps a little sympathy as well. Finally, he spoke. "Beginning today, this moment, at least to me,you are the Receiver.
  • The man explains to Jonas that his job is to transmit his memories of the past. Jonas doesn't understand and then the man says that he will give Jonas memories of his childhood.
  • The man tries to explain his state of mind by comparing it to going downhill on a snow sled, but Jonas does not know what sled and snow are.
  • Saying that it is a place to start, the man instructs Jonas to remove his tunic and lie face down on the bed. The man then tells Jonas to close his eyes and relax.
  • "Well, it's a place to start. I'd been wondering how to begin. Move tothe bed, and lie face down. Remove your tunic first."
  • Jonas then asks what the man is going to do to him. The man says that he is going to transmit the memory of snow. Then he puts his hands on Jonas's back.
