Storyboard Text

  • President Abraham Lincoln
  • Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.
  • General Ulysses S. Grant
  • I propose to fight it out on this line if it takes all summer.
  • The Anaconda Plan
  • Winfield Scott
  • Hmmm, if we slowly surround the South with soldiers we can block them off from gaining resources that may help them defeat us!
  • Abraham Lincoln was the Union's 16th President.  He opposed the expansion of slavery.  His serving is believed to have started the outbreak of the Civil War.  He established emancipation as a Union war goal.
  • Large Population
  • FOR THE UNION!
  • Ulysses S. Grant served as General for the Union during the Civil War.  Although being troubled by reserved inferior, arguments between generals and horrific fatalities, Grant, with President Abraham Lincoln, led the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy.
  • Factories
  • The Anaconda Plan was to slowly surround the South to cut them off from economic resources from the world.  Next they would divide the army and attack in hopes of capturing the capital.
  • Unfamiliar Territory
  • *Sighs* Is anyone familiar with this Southern territory?
  • An advantage of the North was the exceptionally large population unlike the South with 11 million as their population.  The North's large population led to them having larger numbers of men fighting in the Civil War.  Having these numbers of men made it more likely for the Union to overpower the Confederacy.
  • Many of the supplies that the North had the South lacked with having, and this was due to the North having factories, while the South did not.  Some of the supplies these factories produced were clothing, shoes, and weaponry, which are all major supplies needed for surviving during any war.
  • WE HAVE CLOTHES, SHOES, AND WEAPONRY READY TO BE SOLD!
  • The downside for the Union was the unfamiliarity with the South's territory.
  • Negative sir
