The Inca lived high up in the mountains. One of the cities named Macha Picchu was built in 1450. The city suvived the spanish conquest because the spanish never found it.
The Ancient Pueblo
The Inca was a very organized empire. The empire stretched 2,600 and had 20 million people. The emperor hired district officers and local chiefs to watch over the empire. In 1539 The Inca had a meeting with the Spanish but after the meeting the Spanish destroyed the Inca empire.
The northwest was known to be home to many cultures. these cultures were also known as the Tlingit,The Haida and the Kwakiutl. They were also known for there wooden carvings and masks. the culture still goes on today.
The Ancient Pueblo first appeared in 1000 b.c. The pueblo used a technique called dry farming, which they used very little water to farm crops. The Pueblo were artisans who made a lot of baskets and pottery. In 1300 the Pueblo abandoned of there cities called mesa verde.
Mound builders were people who built mounds. The Mississippians had mound builders who build mounds that were built in a center plaza. People used these mound to host feasts and ceremonies.
The people of the great plains relied on hunting, gathering, and fishing. The tribes that lived there had skilled buffalo hunters who used spears and arrows to kill the buffalo. The great plains people did not use horses until the 1500's.
