Gee, he's been in there for a long time. I sure hope he doesn't get sent to prison.
I thnk that this is really unfair. They throw him in jail and take away his farm because they tax him too much!
Lets just hope that he is alright and can get back to his family.
I can not believe how you or the state sees this as fair. And it's not just Joseph who this is happening to, its many of the army soldiers. Your taking away their life.
This is madness. I come back from the war fighting for you, just to get my farm and family taken away from me because you tax me too much?!?
That is not our problem. Anyone who can't pay their taxes get thrown into prison by the state's law.
We have no choice. It is all in the court's decision. Im sorry but this is the way it is.
Why cant you see that what you are doing is unfair. Im just trying to support my family.
Inside, a man named Joseph is being sentenced to prison because he can't pay off his taxes. These people waiting outside are his friends: George the husband, Lydia the wife, and Henry, the son of George and Lydia.
This is the inside of the building. Joseph is the man on the right. He is being sentenced by the Jury on the right. The Jury is about to sentence him to prison. The father is trying desperately to defend him, but nothing can change the Jury's mind.
This is the prison cell. He got sent there by the Jury's rule. He will be in there for a very long time. He and his father are both very sad.
This is the building where a rebellion is being discussed. They are planning an attack on a building in their state, Massachusetts. (This is now known as Shays Rebellion.)
This is inside the building. The man in the chair in the front is Daniel Shays, the leader of the rebel attack. The other people are angry farmers that want to take part in the rebellion.
This is the building that they are going to attack. Daniel and the rebels are getting ready to storm the building.
