  • I am sorry but you cannot have your job of being justice of peace because you are a federalist.
  • William Marbury was very upset that he didn't get the job due to being a federalist. He thought it was unfair, so he complained to the Supreme Court about it and ordered Madison, the secretary of state, to hand over the papers. The Supreme Court debated on this issue.

  • We believe that you should get the job, but sadly, we can't force anything upon Jefferson.
