Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Hey kid? You want some candy?
  • AHHHHH!!! Get him off me!!
  • Rising Action
  • This kid is crazy, I need to get him off of Bill!
  • Climax
  • I can't deal with him anymore! We will write and mail it quickly!
  • This kid is making a mess! We need to work faster!
  • Red Chief is messing around, while Bill and Sam stop at his house. They try to lure and bribe him to go with them. He injures Bill but they capture him and take him somewhere far away.
  • Falling Action
  • Here's the message back, he says to pay him $250 in order for us to return him and not deal with him anymore.
  • Red Chief is threatening and injuring Bill.
  • Resolution
  • Here's Johnny and the $250 you asked for.
  • Bill and Sam can't deal with Red Chief anymore, they are suffering from his behavior. They are sending the letter to Dorset to pay for the ransom of Red Chief.
  • Theme
  • This was a horrible plan! Walking away from that family without a bill in our hand.
  •  Bill and Sam receive a letter back from Dorset making a deal and they accept.
  • That sounds like a good deal to me, let's go.
  • Bill and Sam pay up for the return of Johnny and run away from him so they wouldn't have to deal with him ever.
  •  We're gonna get going.
  • I know he's a lot to deal with, I can hold him for 10 minutes so you two can leave the money and Johnny and get going.
  • The theme of "Ransom of Red Chief" is crime doesn't pay. In the text, it states "...Bill was counting out two hundred and fifty dollars into Dorset's hand." This shows that crime doesn't pay because when they kidnapped Johnny, their plan went wrong and they ended up paying Dorset so they went home empty handed with no money. Committing a crime doesn't mean you'll get money.
