Unusual Birth- She's a goddess. Call to Adventure- Persephone is taken. Demeter is the goddess of agriculture. She has a daughter named Persephone. Hades falls in love with Persephone and takes her. Demeter is so distraught she turns a boy into a lizard and he's eaten by a hawk. Demeter knows she must get her child back so she turns to Zues.
Helper- Zeus. Crossing the threshold- going to Zeus. Challenges and Trials- Demeter convincing Zeus to get her daughter back. She confronts Zeus but he refuses to try and get Persephone back. Demeter retaliates by not doing her job so the soil grew dry and cracked causing all crops to die. Zeus has no choice but to try and get Persephone back but if she has eaten anything then she must remain with hades forever.
Hades showered Persephone with gifts. She gave him the cold shoulder but secretly she loved it. He tempted her with food but she refused to eat anything. She knew her mother would save her but one day the little boy her mom had turned to a lizard convinced her to eat part of a pomegranate and he saved the six seeds from it. They heard someone at the gate and she went running.
Temptation- Demeter wanted to go get her daughter herself before she could eat. Special Weapon- Not an actual weapon but a mother's drive to save her child. Hermes came to get Persephone but the boy came to show the six seeds from her earlier snack.
The return home- Persephone can return for six months at a time. Mastery of two worlds- Hades realm and Earth. Transformation- Demeter must learn how to live without Persephone for six months at a time. They had to compromise on what to do.
Since there were six seeds Persephone had to spend six months of the year with Hades. This is how winter was born. Demeter now had time to mourn until her daughter returned.
