St Mary Mackillop was born in melbourne victoria on the 15th January 1842. She was the oldest child out of her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mary Mackillop was educated at privately by her dad at home who studied at a priesthood in Rome.
At age 14 the aquired her first job as a clerk. In 1867 Mary went to work as a teacher in a town in South Australia called Penola. She then met father Julian Woods who loved helping poor kids to get an education just as Mary does. Together they introduced the first St Josephs school in 1866.
St Josephs day on 19 March 1866 she became a nun and founded the sisters of St Joseph.
St Marys sisters opened a facility in Adelaide for women who had no where to live and an orphanage for children with no parents to look after them,
Mary mackillop died on the 8th of August 1909. She spent her life helping the less fortunate and by opening schools to educate kids about God.
