Storyboard Text

  • Hi, I am a Lion's Mane Jellyfish (Cyanea capillata). I am part of the skyphozoa class.
  • Here are some fast facts:Largest breed of jellyfishLife span is around 1yrDiameter of 20 inchesLength of 98 ftLargest one ever found was off the coast of MA, 7 feet in diameter, 112 feet long
  • This is where I prefer to hang out
  • I now stand nearly uncontested. Overfishing, climate change and pollution have helped promote more frequent jellyfish swarms while reducing my main predators and competitors and increasing my prey. These factors have created a favorable environment for my species.
