Before the civil war the us government pushed some native american nations away to the west away from there native land in the east.
these lands were called reservations because the land was reserved only for the use of the native Americans.
westward expainsion of railroad, farms, mines, and ranches brought more white americaines to native americian areas. mlots of euro americians wanted more land west off mississippi.
this left the government pressured to respond so they redrew the reservation boundaries and gave the native Americans with the small and unwanted land.
native American schools
One of the main goals of the government was to make natives more like white Americans. the u.s government started sending native American children to boarding schools. This forced the family's apart, and it made the children more like white children. At these schools they tried to get the native Americans to give up there culture to be more like white Americans. if they did something that is part of there culture they would be punished harshly.
at the school children took on white roles. Young women cook, sew, clean, did laundry, and other house work. Male students learn trade such as carpentry, blacksmithing, and chopped fire wood. finally the schools off and had poor living conditions, as a result, children frequently got disease and malnutrition.
There were too diffrent ideas of it. the first one was actully to help them gt rich and share in the americian dream.
the second was simply to get rid of the native American land claims. whatever reason simulation assume that they were lesser people.
