Character vs. Self - Chapter 1
It's not my fault. I didn't choose to be one.
"The Gods defeated their father, sliced him pieces with his own scythe, and scattered his remains in Tartarus, the darkest part of the Underworld." Page 6 This quote tells about a story in Greek history. Mr. Brunner is talking to the class about the history of Grees while they stand by an ancient stele.
Character vs. Character - Chapter 1
"As the monster barreled past, I drove the broken horn straight into his side, right up under his furry rib cage." Page 55 This shows that Percy killed the Minotaur.
Character vs. Technology-Chapter 6
"I didn't want to be a half-blood." Page 1 This tells you that Percy is a half-blood.
"All the way into the city, I put up with Nancy Bobofit, the freckly, redheaded kleptomaniac girl, hitting my best friend Grover in the back of the head with chunks of peanut butter-and-ketchup sandwich." Page 3 This foreshadows what is going to happen on the felid trip.
"I turned just as water blasted out of the toilet again, hitting Clarisse strait in the face so hard it pushed onto her butt." Page 91 This shows that the toilet was spraying her in the face. But, this is a part of a sequence of events that will lead up to something bigger.
