Storyboard Text

  • Oh! hey Nancy , how's it going?
  • Hey! Bryan everything's perfect.
  • I'm on my way to the store to buy a ladder, wanna come?
  • My roof is packed with leaves so I have to clean it.
  • Sure!
  • But,. what do you even need a ladder for?
  • Hey Nancy! To be honest I don't really know how tall the ladder should be.
  • Don't worry we can use the Pythagorean Theorem method.
  • My house is 12ft. tall but I've read online that it's safer if you place the ladder 0.5ft. away for every 1ft. in height.
  • First of all, how tall is your house?
  • OK so we have to multiply 12 times 0.5 which equals to six.
  • So my ladder should be 180 feet tall?!
  • OK, so my ladder should be at least 13.4ft tall?
  • Now we use the formula a  b =c, or in this case 6  12 =c c  represents the minimum height of the ladder
  • No, you have to find the square root of 180.
  • Exactly!
  • See page 2 on the back
