  • The Ever Changing Life of a Water Droplet By: Farhan Abdelkadir
  •
  •
  • Hey there! I'm Walter the water droplet, but some of my friends call me Walter the water molecule because I'm made out of H20 which means I have two hydrogen molecules and 1 oxygen molecule. I'm stuck on a very big hand right now. Don't worry though, it's very hot outside so soon I'll evaporate. Evaporation is when a liquid becomes a gas due to solar radiation, which is when the suns heat makes me go into the atmosphere and become a cloud. The atmosphere is where most of the clouds live and go somewhere to precipitate in a new area.
  •
  •  Wait, hold up, I didn't pay attention now I have evaporated into a gas. Now I'm... Walter the water vapor! Now I'm a gas and I'm going to the clouds to become part of them, this is going to be an awesome field trip!
  •
  • We have arrived at our destination and before we get ready to precipitate a lot of the water vapor in the cloud has to go through a process called condensation. Condensation is when gas turns into liquid and then the clouds will start to precipitate. Precipitation is when I and a bunch of other water droplets change from gas to liquid and we fall back to Earth with the help of gravity. Gravity is a force that makes a pull on things that are on Earth.
  •
  • Some of my friends and I became runoff and that means after we precipitated onto an area with a slope and we slide down it. Some of my friends freeze in super cold areas and later go through sublimation. Sublimation is when a solid becomes a gas. Unlike them , I go into a body of water and then I go down and turn into ground water. Ground water is water that went into the ground.
  •  So when I became ground water in a spring, which is a body of water that results from aquifer over flowing, I along with some of my friends go into a permeable rocks which are rocks that unlike impermeable rocks can absorb water. Aquifers are underground layers of permeable rocks that are filled with water.
  • Eventually some people drill into the aquifer of the spring that I live in and make an Artesian well which is a well that goes down to an aquifer. Eventually the same very big hand I was in came and scooped me up from the well, and I was in the same place I started. The End.
