Storyboard Text

  • We will also be learning about the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies. Three very different purposes people went to those colonies.
  • First we are going to start with the New England colonies. The New England colonies were Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
  • The people who came here, came here to practice their own religion and be free to believe in whatever religion they wanted to be without them violating any laws against it.
  • These colonies were important because most people came to them for religious freedom.
  • The Middle colonies are New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
  • These colonies were important because the land was fertile which meant that they were good for farming.
  • A lot of people that came to the middle colonies were farmers and they mostly grew wheat and other grains.
  • The Southern Colonies are Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
  • The purpose of the southern colonies was for many different reasons like farming and some religious freedom.
  • Those are the most important things in the thirteen colonies and the colonial era.
  • That's it class! You may be dismissed!
