One day at baseball training the coach said the team “This year I’m going to choose the captain a little bit differently. I am going to give everyone the opportunity to improve your skills. The player that improves the most will become the captain”.
In order to be the best player, the team had to practice. Practice makes perfect! Each player was given different skills to improve on.
Sam really wanted to be captain and to prove himself to all of his teammates. Every afternoon, Sam would go outside and for 1 hour, practice all of his skills that his coach said to improve on.
Mel also wanted to be the captain. Every second day she would go outside and practice all of her skills but sometimes got distracted.
Jake also wanted to be the captain but he never practised. He thought he was already good enough, so he played on his phone all day. Not sleeping or training.
When it came to the next training session, Sam stood out. The coach could see that he accomplished all of his skills and had improved a lot.
