The main reason why the Plymouth settlers went to the new world is for religious freedom because of religion persecution.
I love having religious freedom!
When the Plymouth settlers got to the new world, they landed on a rock that they called the Plymouth Rock.
Because of how rocky the soil was at the Plymouth, they had to resort to other ways to get money, such as timber, whaling, and fishing.
We can't plant tobacco, how about getting money from timber?
Because of how far they were from their king, they had to make their own laws called the Mayflower Compact.
What should our laws be?
Jamestown and Plymouth are very different. For one, Jamestown depends on tobacco for money while plymouth depends on whaling, timber, and fishing. Also, Plymouth has extremely rocky soil, while Jamestown has fertile and rich soil. Also, Plymouth was a faster success than Jamestown, because they didn't have to go through a starving time, and they also found their economy much quicker.
