  • Thomas Gage was sent by the British to serve in the French and Indian War in 1754
  • He was the commander of all British troops in North America, and had four regiments in his headquarters in Boston, made up of 4,000 or more men. 
  • He had both patience and tact when it came to matters of diplomacy, trade, communication, Native relations, and western boundaries. 
  • He ordered the march of troops to Lexington and Concord, which was unsuccessful
  • After the failure of the Battle of Bunker Hill, Gage returned to England and was commissioned to full general in 1782 
  • Gage made a huge impact on the Revolution and is known as the protagonist of the British
